Happy New Year from the Northy North Pole

A while back I may have mentioned something to the Chicagweigians that they should visit us in January, abandoning their snow-bound home for a trip to Victoria, the tropics of Canada, where it snows but one weekend a year. I don't think I was too far off with that assessment but I guess I shouldn't have said anything out loud. It first snowed 18 days ago and the white stuff has yet to leave the ground. It's been a blast and all, it just would be nice to be able to get the vehicle up the driveway again!

It's snowing some more out tonight.... happy new year! (oh, and apparently it's a green new year's in Chicago, home to tomorrow's Winter Classic outdoor hockey game)

Happy New Year's to you too! It is a pretty green but cold day here in Chicago, and I have to admit that I'm feeling a bit envious of all your snow! :) It always looks so beautiful in photos, and it's easy to focus on all the fun about it and forget about the trouble—the shoveling, the scraping, the inability to get up the driveway (or in our case, the inability to move your car from its parking spot for two weeks). Oh yeah, and being out of milk or some other fairly critical ingredient and having to brave the elements or do without. But hopefully you are vacationing for a few more days, you have plenty of supplies, and you can officially enjoy it. Popcorn and hot chocolate and the works. ;) Much love to you all, we have great hopes to see you again in 2009...I realize we got so spoiled with so many visits in 2008. We are missing you!
