In the arms of all I'm keeping here with me

Well, this confirms it! Three of us spent two solid months wandering aimlessly outdoors while the fourth remained inside and played video games...

I'm not sure why the highlight of the past two months, our trip to Everett, was reduced to less than a second of footage? Must have been having too good a time.

Oh, guys, this is my favorite video yet! And that is saying something, since I have enjoyed and been inspired by all of your movies over the years. They just get more and more wonderful. And another beautiful perfect song. I can't wait to see you all soon, Soon, SOON! I'd better get off the computer and get packing!

If I wasn't already in love with you guys...this would have done it! Hugs and much love from the Sabos in CA.

Lovely guys! I love the swooshing sequence: down the stairs (something that really does have to be seen to be believed), down the weird blue bars at the playground, down the zip-line. You really are a master at piecing together these great moments, Pimp Daddy.

I am so glad to be here at your blog. wow! This video could be a public service announcement for unschooling and for good music. I have to go hear more by that new-to-me group.

Here I am again watching this movie. I love love love it. It's 4 am, I can't sleep, and I saw Madeline's post in my inbox (I like this comment follw-up feature!). It reminded me of how much I also like that music and wow, what a beautiful gift to me this almost morning. Seeing your beautiful family so truly enjoying themselves, the sun shining and sparkling all over your sweet life. I just love you all and can't wait to see you (AGAIN! Yippeee!) so very soon. :) It's funny, I realize that I was looking forward to seeing you when I posted my first comment on this video. I think I'm going to listen to the music again right now. xoxo

Okay… I have backed, recommended and financially supported a few musical duds over the years but Neutral Milk Hotel’s second, and final, album, “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” is definitely not one of them. This is sublime artistry at its most sublime. Wrapped up in guitar perfection, erupting sounds and anchored by Jeff Mangum’s exquisite warble, the album centers around the life, death and after-life of Anne Frank in a most poetic, respectful and beautiful admission of love. Some of the more obvious examples:

from “Holland, 1945”:
“The only girl I've ever loved
Was born with roses in her eyes
But then they buried her alive
One evening, 1945
With just her sister at her side
And only weeks before the guns
All came and rained on everyone
Now she's a little boy in Spain
Playing pianos filled with flames
On empty rings around the sun
All sing to say my dream has come”

from the eponymous track made, of course, all the more famous by the Mayer family video:
“What a curious life
We have found here tonight
There is music that sounds from the street
There are lights in the clouds
Anna's ghost all around
Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
How the notes all bend and reach above the trees”

from “Oh Comely”:
“I know they buried her body with others
Her sister and mother and 500 families
And will she remember me 50 years later?
I wished I could save her in some sort of time machine
Know all your enemies
We know who our enemies are”

And it all makes sense! Ten years out, its legend continues to expand and it remains a critically acclaimed and highly influential bit of artistry. But more importantly, it moves all who encounter it.

A must! And… pssst… available for file transfer!!!
