So there is a 21 thousand plus member cult out there with a fetish for watching santa ride a fire truck and deliver us candy canes! Yup, when I don't understand something I'm pretty quick to slap the ol' "cult" label on it... usually I end up eating my words but don't think I'll have to in this case! Obviously I erred somewhere in the tagging of that movie when I put it up on youtube last December. But 21,000 views in 6 months for 50 of the boringest seconds in video history!?!? That's just freakish, especially considering most of our movies get viewed way less than a hundred times each.
And then I thought I had learned my tagging lessen by really limiting the info provided for subsequent videos - cause after all who wants to encourage another Fire Truck Santa cult? But just last week I youtubed a video for SaltSpring island and tagged it simply "ss". And on came the nazis.
Here's a new sleepy video sans santas and the SS...

Hey, wow! Can I post that video on my site? You have basically done me the service of documenting our entire Portland experience...since most of it was spent with you guys! I still hope to do one of my own, but it's going to take some time to find the time.
Side note: that song is used by our local public radio station (overused would be a better word), so it is so weird to hear it in a different context. I've never heard the whole song, though, so that was really cool.
Yay for another great movie!
yeah- grab and use at will. y 'all get mucho screen time huh!
sorry for the over-used song... ugh!
woops - there I go commenting as her again!
aw man, I love your videos, picture and music choice, perfect. That song is new to me :) This morning it put me right in my right place.
Craig, I just wanted to clarify that I really like the music, it was just strange to hear something so familiar in a different place. Our local radio station has GREAT taste in music, much of it due to the fact that "This American Life" is produced here, and always always has really wonderful music to underscore their pieces. It has flowed out to the whole staff, and I love almost every piece of music they use for anything on WBEZ. It's just that they particularly latched onto that piece, and it is the theme song for a local show called "Hello Beautiful," about all the arts going on in the city each week, and then it us used randomly throughout the day when they need a filler (it doesn't seem like they use it as much now as they did previously, it must have been someone's obsession for a while). I'll have to listen to some more Air when I visit you, as I definitely like all I've heard so far.
Okay, is that enough to overpower my earlier comments that made it sound like I didn't like the music? :)
Rachel - I had already figured that out but I like that I burden you with such lengthy explanations, hahahaha
yeah, i'm always over-explaining. and over-thinking. :)
