An outdoor Halo break

We took a stroll down to the marina today... some pre-walk pumpkin posing:

The old dilapidated bridge remains our favorite:

To the wharf:

We were mesmerized by a family of playful, cheeky river otters:

They kept getting closer and closer and eventually tried to kiss us from below (no we're not praying):

They sure gave us a show, though we imagined the boat owners don't think so kindly of them:

The family:

Ferg enjoyed impersonating the way the otters shook their butts when peeing over the edge of the wharf into the water:

sushibunny

We like our sushi salads around here: all the ingredients minus the crab and seaweed (double the avocado), mixed together into a pile of yummy goodness. But, turns out some of us actually prefer it the other way...

Here's blueberry, our resident non-native bunny. He's been hanging around the house since the Spring but we only recently gave him a name because we kept expecting him to get eaten by an owl or something. We see him everyday but have never been within 10 yards of the skittish yet resilient bastard:

Your mother remembers this

We promised ourselves last year that this year we would go to the catapult (trebuchet) place up-island for our pumpkin needs - no more size-limits for us gosh dangit! From what I hear, and see, it didn't disappoint...

Kristal guaranteed a hootenanny:

Gillian informed me she took a few pics to try to be artistic like Rachel!

Tea for Three

Effie, Jeni and Kahlil had a date for tea the other day. This was one of Eff's most anticipated birthday-week events and it did not disappoint. They were greeted by a chorus of "what did you bring me back" upon their return. Mmmm, I love me some crustless sangies.

When you look at the sky in a poetic kind of way

Fergus spent a decent portion of Effie’s birthday playing Halo Reach online with his friends (though he did excuse himself from the proceedings long enough to sing Happy Birthday to Eff’s donut stack). Gillian and I kinda looked at each other at one point with expressions of “uh oh, will he be doing this, non-stop, all winter?”

Halo is dead fun and I really enjoy playing it (here and there). Ferg loves when I play with him as well even though, or perhaps because of the fact, I suck. Noah, online from Duncan, told me as much the hundred times he killed me the other day. Yeah, there's killing... but its kinda overrated. There is so much more going on here - such as building bases, an arsenal and vehicles and seeking, being a good teammate and other strategies.

So while questions continue to swirl around in our heads - there was a moment the other night where all that subsided and what I saw was a boy positively overjoyed to be playing a game and conversing with his friends way down there in California. And how totally cool a thing is that?
