Warm sunny day walk

Down the trail from our house, we veered off course a bit, found a disused path at the top of the waterfall and came upon an old tree fort/ rope swing/ bench setup. But I've already given away too much - its location is now a secret.

Felting

The repeated sound of “shtick, shtick, shtick”, as a needle is pounded through wool and into a block of foam, is a sound that has taken place morning through night at our house over the past while. And it has generated a flurry of delightful furry works of art. Here are some of Effie’s creations:

Gym night

We’re renting out a gym to give the bouncing kiddos some room to dash about. The first thing Fergus did with his new hockey stick was strike an attack pose with stick held high like a battle staff. Soon he got the hang of things and seemed to especially enjoy dropping the puck for a faceoff… to himself… over and over again.

Hockey, soccer, volleyball, basketball, tag, dodgeball… we do it all! Even nap:

The end of the family line

Here’s an actual excerpt from an actual e-mail that I received today from an actual wife:

Fergus said something (gosh I wish I had a tape recorder) this morning about daddy being at the "stupid old office" today and that someday he would have to go to the stupid old office too. And when I asked him about it he said because one day he would be a dad just like you. I said he had all the choices in the world and that his life could look any way he wanted, that he didn't have to go to a stupid old office, but he said he wanted to be just like you so he would be going to a stupid old office just like you one day.

Darn proud be me!

The Lilting Painter

Well I at least contemplated cutting off the end of this video, where he turns around and scowls at me and demands that I immediately erase the recording. I desperately want to respect his wishes… but some of this stuff is just too golden. For those without a pre-teen girl in the family, find the Hannah version of "Best of Both Worlds" here.

I’m making it up to him, I think, by doing everything in my power not to dispose of my latest gift from The Roadside Scavenger:
